Scrapped Boards

Electronics Forum | Sun Mar 23 16:25:39 EST 2003 | testing

Hi, If a PCB board is scrapped because it contains faults that cannot be repaired or it has been damaged, we currently quarantine them for a period of time. Once this period of time has passed the boards are then disposed. Does anyone know of an

inspection system

Jason, In Transmission AXI the entire solder joint volume is imaged, not just a slice (no missing information) as with Cross-Section. Also, there is no signal loss from mechanical or digital image reconstruction (highest contrast and edge strength).

Pete I can fully understand the inter-departmental problem your dealing with. A couple of simplistic thoughts since your only dealing with pennies. You cannot afford to run out or the parts you are dealing with or you will have thousands of dollar

How to add thru hole to SMT line

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 21 06:26:28 EDT 2003 | Grant

Hi, We have a SMT production like, however we have very little experience with through hole assembly. We design everything to be completly SMT based, however connectors are the only part of our product that still requires through hole assembly. Cur

Blocking stencil apertures (on purpose)

Electronics Forum | Thu May 01 13:56:45 EDT 2003 | kmorris

Dave: After the stencil was made with apertures for a connector on this PCB, it was discovered that the connector would have to be handsoldered after SMT reflow. If the solder deposits are left to reflow on the pads, it makes it difficult for the o

Contract manufacturing Question

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 15 12:55:41 EDT 2003 | sam

We are contract manufacturer for SMT and complete products. There were cases that we charge our customer for the set-up costs, mainly for some trial and evaluation work on our SMT line, especially when mass production order is not confirmed yet. F

Micro BGA pads, adhesion to laminate

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 09 16:18:51 EDT 2003 | Matt Kehoe

Hi Russ, Thanks for the input. The squeeze out we are reworking is very very thin since it has been flattened so it is actually easier to remove than usual but I agree, with a pad this small it could exert a bit of stress on the bond line if rework

Bga replacement on ENIG Fabs.

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 29 09:47:40 EDT 2003 | davef

We agree with Russ and Ioan that rework does not cause black pad. It's caused during the board fabrication process. On the other hand, we think: * Mantis wants to reduce the amount of reworking of boards that fail due to a black pad problem. *
