I want just to confirm what Dave suggested you. J-STD-033a, par 6. Boards Rework tells you plenty of useful informations. 6.1 Component removal, RWK and remount 6.1.1 Removal for Failure Analysi 6.1.2 Removal & Remount 6.2 Baking of Populated Boar

FP4531 underfill rework

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 26 08:57:23 EDT 2011 | indyc

I am trying to rework FP4531 underfill. Some of the underfill flowed to adjacent capacitor and resistor. Even though the datasheet says that it is non-reworkable, has anyone tried reworking / removing excess underfill? Any information would be help

Has anyone had any experience with thermal shocking and cracking of SMD capacitors during the rework process? My company was advised to preheat capacitors to 125 C at a rate of 2 C/sec before replacing them onto boards. Would this maybe degrade c
