Flippin' My LEDs

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 18 20:54:22 EDT 2000 | Dave F

Periodically, our operators insert PTH LEDs on boards incorrectly, because of an apparent lack of standardization in the way various manufacturers package LEDs. For instance, for alternate parts some manufacturers make: * Cathode leads long, some ma

If it looks like 2 zener symbols tyed together at their cathodes I belive this is a avalanche diode or transient voltage suppressor (TVS). If you have a p/n you could do a search on like digikeys wesite and possible get an idea.

SMT Component Polarity Guide

I don't know about a poster, but we just print the Data Sheet for parts with questionable polarity markings. Just remember, that not all SMT LEDs are marked by Cathode. We have ONE LED that we use that the manufacturer puts a dot on the anode side.

Selective Gold Plating

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 24 19:25:42 EDT 2018 | rfazil

How can you make a cathode for selective gold plating edge connector. I know you can add bus/tie bars but we want to remove them and just want to do selective hard gold plating of gold fingers.

Defect in diode(Reverse Polarity)

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 07 11:17:54 EDT 2023 | proceng1

Do you mean that your machine is placing the part backwards? Or the part is reversed internally? Like the Cathode mark is painted wrong?

4. There is a possibility that your company have more than one vendor for a specific component (same partnumber for you but different mfg. part nr). Let say that it is a red led and this itself could be somewhat tricky to order: Red led is as most of

Expiration date of PWB

PWB shelf life: HASL---3mth ENTEK-- 2mth Before using expired PWB, it is suggested to go thru HASL or ENTEK angain. Ask your VDR to serve this. Re immersion Au, mostly when the thickness under 3u"(micro pores present), the surface gold will serve a

Look here: http://www.acroname.com/howto/LED/LED.html If you don't know the current, experiment with different values of resistor. Starting with the highest value resistor that doesn't dim the light too much then lowering it as needed. Connect th

This sounds like a form of corrosion called electromigration. It creates cathode anodic filaments. They have a fern like shape because it is a metallic based crystal structure. Electromigration requires: * Difference of electrical potential * Chemica

Melf Diode Marking Machines

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 18 12:07:11 EDT 2017 | premiermark

Folks, I am looking to find marking machine manufacturers for melf diode components. The parts are DO213AA package type. I am looking for a machine that will put an ink cathode band around the circumference of the glass (see attached image). Anyone
