Removal of No-Clean flux residue

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 05 14:53:45 EDT 2001 | Jeff Meier

We have customers that are requiring no flux residue left on boards after soldering of non-water washable parts. We currently use Multicore Crystal 502 No-Clean to solder parts that are not washable. Has anyone come up with a good way to remove this

Hi Jeff, Sean is correct. Although ultrasonic technology will work in post-reflow de-fluxing applications, you will receive concerns regarding ultrasonic damage to wire bonded components. Much has been written to combat this belief but the conce

First of all, do not use kapton tape! It tends to cause a dewetting effect around the tape. A call to Humiseal will explain why. There's not really a blanket answer to your question.... Removing cured liquid mask can often result in a fillet ef

Josh, are you setting someone up with these questions? Answers to your questions related to the subject line follow: Q1. Does the Epoxy Solder Mask Layer of a PCB protect against moisture absorption? Is this a primary function of the solder mask?

Cleaning

The overwhelming technology used in post-reflow cleaning of electronic assemblies is aqueous. Prior to the 1990's, solvents and vapor degreasers dominated the cleaning industry. After the popular solvents were banned via a United Nations treaty, alte
