To process Multy Layer Ceramic Chip Capacitor is a critical process some time underevaluated mainly at rework or repair step. You can find useful guidelines on J-STD-001 G

I am looking for a industry specification for the amount of strain that is allowable during a parallel blade shearing operation as related to ceramic capacitors. Does anyone know of such a specification? Best regards, Jeff

Ceramic capacitors larger then EIA size 1812 are known to be very susceptible to thermal shock damage due to their large ceramic mass.

Hi all Did anyone encounter that the thermal crack failure or any failure issue by using the Kemet Ceramic Cap, particularly 0.1uF,while wave soldering? Before using this part, I want to clarify whether it is suitable for our process or not. Thanks i

Hi davf Our process is the manufacturing burn-in-bord, SMT,insert sockets, wave and touch up. 1 board needs 0.1UF about 3k+ components.Kemet recommanded to use the reflow machine for Ceramic Cap when i chked its website.

| hi, | 1206 capacitor with silver/palladium termination is mounted onto a ceramics substrates. Bonding is achieved through conductive epoxy. | We discovered that the epoxy cracked and this caused missing capacitor. We had tried different grade of e

We wouldn't expect the ceramic of the capacitor to conduct very much heat. [We're surprised how high the thermal conductivity of Al2O3 is: (30W/m-C).] Can we assume that you're talking about parts that are defective at incoming inspection?

Here's what we suggest: * Keep a 5-mm space between a board edge and a ceramic capacitor. * Mount the capacitor parallel relative to the edge. * Design pads about a half of the termination. * Fixture the board when using your pizza cutter.
