Thanks Dave, I will be sticking with Manufacturing Engineering. These are good guidelines but what is standard clearance for various packages? This is a dimension we usually seek by eye, whether we will have a problem or not. We use straight DI -

Agree with Davef. Smaller the chip, more the static charge. I used to see this even with normal chips. Get an ionizer blow. It should solve your problem. May be switch to antistatic tape if affordable.Regards. GV

Our AOI machines have actually caught wrong resistors before. A reel gets swapped, a vendor sends a wrong part, things happen. To think that we can't rely on resistor markings anymore, that just sucks.

From my perspective, I like marked parts because I can use AOI to verify the correct parts are being placed in production. If an operator is going to load the wrong reel, I prefer to find out on the first PCB rather than after 5000 wrong parts have b

Hi Grant, Murata do 0402 chip caps on 50K reels - example: GRM1555C1H101JZ01J 0402, 100pf, NPO/C0G 50V 5% (make sure the final letter is included - the J denotes the reel size - D is standard 10K) Rohm MCR01 series (0402 resistors) come on 6inch, 1

Hi everybody, The matter is this: after reflow, on top side leads of chip components (resistor 0805)appear some empty balls of solder. In some cases this thing is only on the lead and the solder joint seems good, in other cases this empty ball is als

On the new 4797 T12W8P feeders we are having trouble picking the very thin chip resistors. Adding foam to the feeder (beneath the pick point) helps, but it only minimizes our frustration. Universal has a reel of these parts and they are looking into

So, to really get reliable pickup rates from new bulk feeders, I just need to replace all the chip shooters we have with more recent ones with pickup correction capability. So where is the saving? ;-) -Upside down resistors? not an issue. so what if

Yes to all of the above with the exception of the part sticking. The same parts are EASILY picked using the 4790/91 feeders on a 4790/91 machine. The new feeders just flip the part out when the feeder advances. Thanks! Lee
