Clean vs No Clean processing of PCB assemblies

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 23 18:38:43 EDT 2001 | johnmaetta

We are re-thinking our clean vs no clean asembly process' and would like some information from users of both process'. Currently, we use no-clean, but our assemblies display residue and other contaminates and this raises questions at our customer si

Hello, tried searching the SMTnet archives, but not yet a clear answer - maybe there is not a one yet ? ;) last discussion I found is few years old so maybe there is a fresh view on that? Q: we want to prove that our proces is "clean" we use SAC30

oil contaminated PCB cleaning

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 29 21:31:46 EST 2010 | aqueous

I would recommend the following paper entitled "Cleaning for Reliability Post QFN Rework" by Mike Bixenman (Kyzen) and myself (Aqueous Technologies). While it discussed cleaning under QFN's in a batch environment, it is also applicable to cleaning u

Fuji IP-1 won't vision read PQFP64 package - any ideas?

Hi Jerry, Thanks for coming to my aid again. I have tried your settings of 10% for Lead check and pitch limit but still rejects the part. The vision image looks clean on the display. On one of the last trials I noticed that the part was picked up

Ionic contamination vs selective soldering ?

Electronics Forum | Mon Mar 17 18:37:59 EDT 2008 | aqueous

We manufacture both bulk and localized ionic contamination testers. My answer is from the perspective of the cleanliness testing method. The issue with all bulk ionic contamination testers (Ionagraph, Omegameter, Zero-Ion), is that they test the en

Water Soluble vs. No Clean

Electronics Forum | Tue May 02 18:15:21 EDT 2006 | Mike Konrad

| WE ARE CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS REFLOWING BOARDS WITH WHITE TIN PLATING. WE ARE NOT GETTING GOOD WETTING ON THE PADS. | WE HAVE CHECKED THE REFLOW PROFILE AND TRIED DIFFERENT PASTE'S. | WE THINK THERE MAY BE CONTAMINATION OR OXIDATION ON THE PADS.
