that depends on clinch direction, length, and angle. .200" hole center to center is usually safe for all automatic insertion equipment.

I use a clinch of 5 and a length of 3 for 1/4w and thicker leg diodes probably a 7 and 5. You really just have to play with the machine it figure out what works best for your application.
