Not entirely clear on your question. We don't coat any of our hardware (assemblies are coated prior to hardware installation), so if coating needs to be reworked after this, then hardware removal is needed.

Hey Phil, i'm just curious what your rework processes are for your hardware after conformal coating is applied (if any). I'm interested in conformal coating as our hardware can be exposed to moisture rich environments at customer sites but to my kno

A couple of things to try as I just went through this myself. Checkout this link for pointers on plasma cleaning... http://www.nordson.com/~/media/Files/Nordson/march/Papers/The-Effects-of-Plasma-Treatment-Prior-to-Conformal-Coating-NordsonMARCH.p

5000 hours, yeow!!! Salt spray testing "periods range from a few hours (e.g. 8 or 24 hours of phosphated steel) to more than a month (e.g. 720 hours of zinc-nickel coatings, 1000 hours of certain zinc flake coatings)." Look here: http://www.ancatt.c

I have a customer that wants 5000 hrs to red rust. The steel is plated with chloride zinc (barrel plated) and a black chromate. They say a company in Taiwan has the technology, but can not deliver in a production setting. Does anyone know of a cost e

You should be able to obtain a smooth finish. A "glass-like finish" is in part a function of the coating material, assuming good process. When we see "orange peel" conformal coating, we think moisture from the spray room environment, conpressor, et

Does anyone know, what causes the orange peel affect when spraying pcbs with conformal coating ? Are there ways of minimising or eliminating this ? Is is possible to achieve a glass like finish ? if so how Thanks Sam

Have you considered spraying the coating? Check with the manufacturer of the epoxy to see if they recommend any equipment and whether or not the coating would have to be mixed with solvent to provide a smooth, thin even coat.

Hello all, I'm working at a CM with less then ideal material storage shelving when it comes to ESD protection. I've got ordinary painted shelving units that I need make ESD safe. I'm considering dissipative mats or spray coatings for each shelf, t
