PCB: center of mass - moment of inertia

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 17 14:58:04 EST 2010 | otipicni

Hi everybody. I need to calculate the moment of inertia of a pcb (with its components) and also its center of mass. The pcb is not manufactured yet. Before that I need to verify those properties. How could I do? The pcb will weight around 50 g. Shou

Larry, Our specification is 0.075% for our Fuji CP3 and IP2 machines. At or above that figure the Maintenance Dept. has to get to work. We typically see 0.03% to 0.05% on average. The Fuji machines are all vision centering. We have found feeders are

Hello, I use Siemens MS128 & HS180. I need to place a lot of TO-252AA, SOT223, ... components. At the moment I use only mechanical centering but I want to center these components opticaly. There is no problem to center chips and other symetrical com

Start by verifying the component definition, the thickness is critical. HSP 4796 uses nozzle 81 for 0402's. Make sure is using the right nozzle. If you need to, use the autoteach function to physically teach the dimensions of it, thickness included.

We just had a similar problem with misplacement, and it turned out that the designers had not put the local fiducials in the right places. I am told that placement machines typically recalculate the component centroid to be at the center of a line b

We are having a continuing problem with 0603 chip capacitors not centering themselves on the pads during the reflow process, causing an open condition at one end. Does anyone know what can be done to alleviate this? Thanks much. Gary

Problem with shielding component

2-3mm would seem close enough to affect the air flow and I was thinking it could be displacing the qfn. However, if you ran a failed board back through reflow and it was functional after that, I'd put my money on insufficient reflow. I suppose it's
