Hi John, It depends on what equipment and resources you have at your disposal - if you have an antique wave with crap adjustment & hand sprayed flux, no debridging/air knife system on a tightly packed board with a multitude of fine pitch connectors

After an in depth examination, I found that the problem was not a defective connector as I thought in the first place. Actually is a broken through-hole on the Quad Align sensor. I requested a spare part to PPM. Mr. Bobpan, thank you again.

Hi Aurther, Thanks for a prompt reply. I agree but unfortunately our AOI is 2D and misses a lot of solder defects especially on connector terminals which are surface mount. We are also dependent on operator at AOI to mark the defect if caught by AOI

I'm curious why would you have a solder defect on a connector like the one you show, even if you were putting it down with tweezers. If you are getting lots of such defects, its really not inspection you should be looking at, its the cause.

We process a double-side reflow board (10 ups). Chips and IC's on the bottom side while chips, IC's plus thru-hole connectors and IC sockets on top side (bottom side first then top side reflow). In the past, we were not encountering any soldering pro

I am looking for defect rates on hand soldering. Specifically - I have a large number of wire jumpers that need to be hand soldered across two boards (connectors are not an option). I am looking for a defect rate so I can perform a cost analysis in
