crystal mounting with foam tape

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 28 20:17:02 EST 2000 | Eldon Sanders

I need to side mount a standard HC-49/U crystal on a board using double sided foam tape. I am looking for a source for pre-cut foam tape. In prototype runs I have used 3M #4950 foam tape cut to size one at a time. But for production I want it pre-

Hello Jason Sorry that I can't be of much help as your part seems to be proprietary to a specific OEM manufacturer. I would guess that it is a Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator by the TCXO and the shape. This is basically a precision cryst

Hello Loz, Blue residues on circuit boards can be caused by copper corrosion, component body deterioration, marking permanently, and adhesive break down. In this case, a more subtle mechanism appears to be possible. This is a no clean application

The above suggestions look to be the most likely, however on the off chance: Going back a decade we saw damage to crystals & resonators due to induced harmonics from ultrasonics (usually in the wash). Some fluxer systems use ultrasonics (I think

We are having a little trouble with what appears to be a crystalization between our fine pitch parts. The problem appears after a a thourough wash of the pcb when dry. It looks like lead wiskers/haze between the joints. We are using water soluable lea

We are currently experiencing an issue with one of our reflow ovens producing large amounts of flux crystals in the end of zone 12 and entrance of cooling zone. This has been going on for roughly around 4 years now, we are using Senju M705 lead free

Thanks Dave for your reply. I have found a supplier that can cut it, but I am trying to save the tooling cost and the minimum purchase dollar ammount imposed by the supplier. If an off the shelf item existed I could buy what I wanted when I wanted.
