Problem with YAMAHA mounter DC motor encoder

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 10 18:58:38 EST 2005 | darby

What is the problem Peter? See a recent posting on a Y axis problem with the same style of machine. If the encoder is cactus, buy a new motor. Sorry, this is the only solution I know of.

Are the drive motors DC? Reverse polarity on the motors and switch your photosensors on the entry and exit end. You might have to play with the SMEMA connections a bit, but you'll figg it out. ;)

If you want to vary the voltage to control the motor speed, then this is not the correct way. Though you can use LM317 for reducing the votage (using a 5K potentiometer) which will sure reduce the speed but it'll reduce the torque tremendously. For D
