For Automated x-ray inpsection system comes in 2D and 3D. 2D also know as the transmission xray inspection where xray are generated from a fixed point source. On double side board, this does not work that well. That where 3D Automated x-ray inpsectio

Sorry, I have not read the article. However, I do have five years experience constantly tweaking an AOI system that ran ONE product! The strength of the machine was solder inspection. The biggest problem was component color variation and shadowing

Hi Refering to the Apr edition of SMT , page 24 to 29, anyone got experience on implementing the AOI or 3D x ray : a) What is the pros and cons? b) What is the trend in the PCBA industry for wave soldering inspection? c) Will this implementation co

For solder joint inspection you cannot beat AXI. That's what is was designed for. AOI machines were designed for component inspections and solder joint checking was an add-on. In transmission AXI you can get a measurement of the whole solder joint. A

Jason, In Transmission AXI the entire solder joint volume is imaged, not just a slice (no missing information) as with Cross-Section. Also, there is no signal loss from mechanical or digital image reconstruction (highest contrast and edge strength).

Has anyone had success utilizing the lifted lead/ height checker feature on a Mirtec MV-7L. We recently had two separate events where the machine did not detect a lifted lead using the ic/bridge inspector. The soldering results came back with out def

Okay, Okay, I will convert to the metric system. I would still rather say 1 mm instead of 10 microns. As far as paste how about "really little" and "really really little" (type 3 and 4 respectively) This term (micron)is good for people unlike me t

Alpha-numeric suck! Just kidding. We had a guy that was in charge of our waves who said the same thing. Never two sure what he meant by that. I've been runnning wave solder for 12 years and them Gels seem to get rid of the broken parts at wave. N
