I'm not personally familiar with the 265 but it sounds like the machine's board stop actuator is not retracting or a sensor that detects that actuator position is stuck (probably a reed switch.) If your stop is not retracted, then the sensor is telli

I know you said you checked your clamps but another look will do no harm. we had a very similar issue a while back, and it turned out that the plastic shim under the chase clamp magnet was damaged. This caused the chase clamps not to release properly

No, there is not a way to initialise into the diagnostics menu with the head raised / covers open. Literally lowering the head manually (prop head, disconnect actuator, etc) is naturally possible, but not receommended... and based upon your symptom
