Time to retire the wave?

Electronics Forum | Tue May 22 17:08:04 EDT 2007 | stepheniii

We did get the dewers of liquid nitrogen. They were something like $200.00 a refill plus a monthly rental. If you research nitrogen filters you will find a long list of disadvantages to the dewers. One that wasn't listed was a lot of times we would h

You may want to consider a Nitrogen Generator as an alternative to portable Dewers. Reduced handling,no gas contracts and usage on demand will cut your liquid nitrogen costs in half.A good rule of thumb for consumption guesstimating is if you use two

What purity? To get 99.999% pure you will need dewers of liquid nitrogen or a two stage system. (and a dewer will last about a month and a half even if you don't use it as it outgasses.) But you can get reasonable purity with a wall mounted single s

Selective Soldering Issues

We are using Nitrogen from Dewer tanks. We have purchased a generator from On-Site gas that we will be installing in 2 weeks. I guess Nitrogen purity could be an issue, but the company that sells us Nitrogen said it is five 9s (99.999%)

Selective solder N2 consumption

One thing about liquid N2 is while it is safe, only let trained personnel near it. I believe if someone got their hand frozen on the side, it is not coming off until the dewer is completely empty and warmed up. And make sure management understands

What about nitrogen purity? Erza won't say anything other than you need 99.999% pure nitrogen. We are looking at another company that says the same. At a previous place we switched from dewers of liquid nitrogen to a single pass filter. I could see

I have the identical machine and setup as you with the same issue(s). I looked at setting up for N2 but am choosing to retrofit to a standard lambda nozzle setup. If you are soldering bottom side SMT parts or other challenging assemblies, N2 may ma

yes Once I was using dewers of liquid N2 and recommended switching. I tried using air to the machine so the sensor would let the machine run. Boards went from good to a two inch icicle covering a large area. We went to a wall mounted single stage fi
