N2 PPM vs %RH? With a firm grasp of the obvious, reflow oven manufacturers rig N2 ovens differently than non-N2 ovens. The N2 displaces O2. Usually N2 oven monitor something or other to give an indication of N2 ppm. %RH really isn't part of the eq

$100K for a full in-line. We can do conventional spray at 30 to 50% less but you must mask components you don't want to coat. If they are on 1 end only of the board, then dip coat which is the least expensive option starting at around $12K for up to

measure the board thickness before coat by a screw gauge, and then after, when the coating has fully cured. this works well for a single side coat. once your wet to dry thickness is down, you can spray to a particular thickness wet and be reasonably

From my previous experience with silicone, it tend to be need to spray with thick coating(s) and it's more watery. The boots doesn't work too well in those cases. Just a note, now I am no longer working with silicone. For conformal coating, best m

Also coating costs depends on solids content vs final dry film thickness. Some newer UV coatings are 100% solids, so what you put down you get on the PCB after cure, use no solvents at all. So a cost to look at are qty of PCB per litre of material. T

Does anyone have a reference to a spec for this? We have a tall SMT IC that we coat with AR coating in a Asymtek spray coating machine. We do not have the angle head option to spray from a 45 so the sides of tall parts are sometimes left uncovered.

Todd, All liquid coatings are Newtonian - they follow gravity so they do indeed run away from sharp leads and edges. Silicones are generally worse because they have very low surface energy - although this is an asset when trying to get under compone

We have used many ways of measuring but all are either messy, inconsistent or time consuming. We have done wet, glass slide dry, etc. We are currently using a kapton tape dot system. Spray the board, remove the dot and measure it, subtract the thick

We have just got involved in conformal coating, with mixed results. We are machine spraying and have experienced various machine issues. Another one was the consistency of the material being sprayed, we mixed it ourselves (badly?). We now buy it pre-
