The solderability shelf life of ENIG is related almost entirely to diffusion of O2 through the gold plating. When O2 diffuses through the gold, the underlying nickel is oxidized rendering it unsolderable (with ENIG - you solder to Ni, the gold dissol

Hi All, Via X-rays, we found solder voids appear on PTH location, especially on Dimm connectors area. We think this should be related to PCB issue as we found solder unable to fill up the PTH hole during bare board testing at wave soldering machi

We're considering an ENIG finish on some of our boards to resolve some coplanarity concerns with 20 mil pitch QFP100s. I welcome any comments on the subject, especially regarding solderability and the variables of ENIG that affect it, but would part

We have both, reflow and wave solder. Planning on PTH and secondary SMT through Wave solder; then reflow primary SMT.

Do you of reducing hole size of DIMM connector will improve solder voids??

Rich: Now thats a great question!!! Youre corrrect. Primary-side temperature is the driver of the differences in the sensitivity to moisture between SMT and PTH devices that youre finding. * Primary-side temperature for SMT ~= Secondary-side te

Hello guys ! I am here again with a problem, right now we have a problem with a new product, the problems are with voids with the PTH we put a receptacle with terminal blades that are 1.3mm width in a pth with a diameter of 1.5mm we use a pallet to

They probably the same. Most likely someone is saying immersion gold [immersion Au] as a short hand for ENIG [ Electroless Nickel - Immersion Gold]. It is very uncommon to plate gold directly on copper, because gold and copper form a brittle interm

We are using NC. Paste doesn't seem to have an effect on the solderability on a bad batch of ENIG. When ENIG has gone bad, throw the board out.

Never heard the term chemical gold before. I would recommend using industry standard tems first hehehe, what is the proces sfor these boards? I would hope that you are using ENIG if you are soldering to these baords by the way Russ
