Improving PTH fill using select solder

Electronics Forum | Mon May 14 12:44:08 EDT 2012 | tomgervascio

I am a user of an Ersa Versaflow 3/45. I was wondering if anyone could share some process pointers. I have a 0.125" multilayer PCB that I am having problems consistently achieving 75 percent hole fill on a mini-coax connector. The coax connector ha

Lead free selective solder

You will need to preheat the boards for a lead free selective solder process. A preheat module is critical for any wave or selective solder process, if you don't get the board preheated properly the solder is going to resist flowing to the top of the

We have an ERSA machine here where we have solder "spikes" occasionally. We have made sure our flux is dispensing properly, we have adjusted z axis speeds, our preheater is heating properly, adjusted XY speeds, etc. Can anyone think of something we m

We have an Ersa and an Ace machine. The Ersa is made for bigger volumes of boards. Programming is longer/harder and not as user friendly. If your running 100 boards or less.....the Ace is the way to go. If you need flexibility the Ace is better.

My company is looking at the various options for selective soldering machines. We are mostly a low volume, high mix facility, with some moderate volume orders as well. I have looked at the Pillarhouse Topaz XL, Ersa Versaflow, and Vitronics Soltec

Have you tried using offsets to begin to move the head away in the Z axis while it is moving in a lateral ( X Y ) direction. The spikes are difficult on the Ersa, but experiment with hitting the location from different directions may help also.
