Typical first pass yield in electronics

Electronics Forum | Tue Apr 27 07:20:34 EDT 1999 | Richard Marks

I'm a mechanical engineer and we buy electronic pressure sensors and switches. In doing quality audits, I need to understand what "best practice" will yield in terms of conforming product first time through the manufacturing process? Any data out t

On circuit board assemblies first pass yields need to be above 98%, if a supplier is below this level it is a indication that: he has poor control of the manufacturing process; Poor component selection (price over quality; excepted a poor design from

| If you could measure and chart 3 variables in my process, what would they be? | The boards that I produce are on panels that are 12up and 2x4 up. All boards are single sided paper base w/o plated thru holes. They are on scored panels that measure

Frank, A couple of suggestions: 1. You may consider investing in a SPC Software package which would allow you to do a detailed analysis of your process. Panasonic's CIM Software Product, PanaPRO, has a well defined SPC application that can be used fo

DPMO as a metic to qualify a CEM as World Class

i would say that you are there already. with 10,000 DPM0 you have a 1% fallout, you are at 99.9 basically. 1 out of a 1000 boards will fail? of course one thing we need to know is how many opportunitites do you count for a chip resistor for exam
