Soldering failure in time (FIT)

Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 13 06:21:14 EST 2004 | Peppe

I work in electronic industry and I'm interested about the standard values of FIT (failure in time or useful lifetime) of soldering. In essenze my question is : how much time can work a good solder joint, before became fail ? Exist a minimum and ma

Surface Tension vs Part Mass

yep, steve is right, it was kind of a joke but I have attached nuts and bolts to QFPs when it was deemed that a lot of components needed to be removed from some assemblies in a quick amount of time. Fit just means that it will fit onto part. thought

Fuji versus Mydata

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 06 15:34:12 EST 2007 | realchunks

Well, you have Fuji's now, that's a good argument to stay with them. Your maint. guys will like it too. Plus, depending on size of MyData, you may have to really re-adjust your line(s) to fit em'. I'm not bad mouthing MyData, I think they are gr

I presume you are looking at low melting point solders. Firstly, I would consider running BOTH sides with the same paste - this will cut down the opportunities for a mix up with rework or retro-fit. Secondly, check that there is a cored wire availabl

gloves used for wave soldering and pallets

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 20 12:37:10 EDT 2007 | hussman

As long as your operator is grounded, a pair of welders gloves is fine. The leather kind do not build up static and do last a while. If the same pair of gloves is being used for dedrossing the wave, pay special attention to loose fitting gloves. I

BGA cracking

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 15 06:14:49 EDT 2008 | milas

Hi Has anyone experienced laminateand BGA cracking on ENIG finish boards built using a lead free process? The laminate is cracked directly underneath the pad where the solder joint has cracked. We have confirmed the cracking via Microsectioning. We

Is it the pressurized system or the pump system you have fitted to the machine? Are you getting an error message 'No flow nozzle 1'? Check the 'ShoRate' gauge at the back of the machine and make sure the ball bearing rises in the glass tube when you

revola, Yes you can as long as you have a type 4 or 7 line scan camera fitted(type 7 is best as improved lighting), Front or Rear loading is not important, Snr tech is right, lighting isn't great with this machine but the camera is the same as fitted

today my pcb maker told me they can't get all components on the board. I was wondering if some might have suggestions for improvement. Attached the schematics and pcb design. the part outside the white lines does not fit on the board. pcb size is 15x

Moisture sensitive ICs in repairs/refurb

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 28 06:12:27 EDT 2013 | grahamcooper22

If the soldering process isn't heating the whole package up to soldering temp then NO you don't need to keep them DRY (using a soldering iron to fit a QFP for example)....but if the soldering process is done on a rework station or in a manner where t
