In our machinery, the pcmcia cards are simply Compact Flash cards in an adapter - not sure if this is always the case though

The emulator doesn't work that way. You can create only 1.44 MB partitions (e.g. 100 pieces on one flash drive) (with the supplied software) and they will be visible as floppy disks. It is not a USB port.

I'm not familiar with that machine type but I would assume on the board that is flashing with the fuse fault? Could you not try swopping the boards from the other machine to prove it as the board, do you not have the manual you can check the fault

I cloned the Flash Memory Card (CFI-128MDG ) for the Topaz-X (circa 1998). The contents looks identical to the orginal, but it will not boot the machine. Has anybody tried this and know what is wrong? (MSDOS 6.2 OS) thanks!

Patrick- You have not given enought detail of the type of discoloration. Is it "white residue"? Can it be "rust" colored? Whatever it is, you fab supplier needs to be called in immediately and give you an exact reason for this failure. Just rubbing
