IMHO it's caused by three things: 1) placement 2) placement 3) placement

Talk to 10 people and you get 10 recommendations for pad layout. So far, here's number 3 [after IPC and AVX]. We suggest: * Use the IPC recommended standard. * Change from that standard when someone gives you a documented reason to change.

For 0402s we use type 3 paste. We have .006 and .005 stencils. The .006 works okay but .005 seems to give us slightly better results. We use a 1:1 ratio for the aperture to match the pad, round pad not needed. With accurate placement and a correc

Messy. Messy. Messy. Consider gluing these components, until you control your process. It is unclear to us that a single factor drives these defects, but multiple factors that need to be tuned to work well together. PAD DIMENSIONS * Some SM-782 pa

You could reduce the paste by about 70%. Solder balling and tombstoning will be the issues to fight. The drivers to these don't change with the component size. Use the fine SMTnet Archives for background. Aperture Size and Thickness of Solder Pas

We have never dispensed adhesive for 0402, but here's your rules of thumb: * Nozzle diameter should be half the desired glue dot diameter. * Minimum of 0.010" gap between the adhesive and pad, both sides. We'd guess that you should be using a 0.3mm

Is the glue intended for printed SMD attach? 3 Are you following all the manufacturers glue shelf life recommendations? 4 Are you observing all the manufacturers glue working life guidelines? Finally, what level of skewing are we talking about?

Thanks for reply, So do you use 1.3 or the 0.7 nozzle for 0603 components ( I suppose trial & error will tell me). aj...

We are currently using 0402 resistors and capacitors in our production process. Our equipment is as follows: - DEK 265 - Siemens S25/F5 - Vitronics XPM520(5 zones) - 2% silver solder Alpha WS678 The problem is that randomly some 0402 capacitors are
