Hi! I recently remarked on a thread that so-called VOC-free fluxes weren't. As a result, I got three private e-mails asking what I meant. As this seems to be unclear, I'm starting a new thread with my explanation, rather than sending out the answers

Hi all, I thought I'd use this forum to ask a couple general questions on fluxes for manual operations: First - Is it OK to use a wave soldering type flux (specifically OA)? Thinking about activation temperatures and the ramp rate of the wave solder

Brian: Nicely done. You're correct ... I never "understood" VOC-Free Fluxes. Now, I realize that I understood them, but I just didn't get it. Also, that's for posting this, rather than "going off-line." Ta Dave F

Does anyone have wave solder experience using OSP and VOC free no clean flux?

Does anyone have any information or experience soldering of class 3 products with WS fluxes. We are currently leaning toward Alpha WS609 flux, however the customer's interpretation of J-Std-001C feels that type 'H' fluxes (WS) are not allowed. Any

| Does anyone have wave solder experience using OSP and VOC free no clean flux? Well, Steve you back in action. Yes, it works fine. Earl Moon

WS609 is a wonderful paste. J-STD-001, 4.2 states words to the effect that for Class 3 products Type H or M fluxes should only be used for tinning operatins. Most water soluable fluxes are either H or M. I believe that you can use Type H or M flux

Can anyone tell me the difference between the these 2 fluxes as i cant find a data sheet(i searched the alpha metals website) for the E191.I know the the 2 fluxes are both no clean but other than that?? The reason i ask is i found some E191 in our st
