Could anyone please tell me if there is a quick simple formula for working out the ideal SMD footprint for a 52 pin QFP using the dimensions specified on the manunfacturers component drawing. I know of the IPC 'SMD land patterns' standard, which I e

I have no knowledge into PCB designing with surface mount components, all my experience has been with through hole components. I now have to design PCBs using surface mount parts. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer. Can a PCB w

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day about component footprint verses component body size. He said the footprint is the body size, it this true? I always saw them as being different.

One common definition of a SMD footprint is: A typical SMD footprint, is composed of: * Solder lands (conductive pattern) * Solder resist pattern * Occupied area of the component * Solder paste pattern (for reflow soldering only) * Area underneath th

Could this QFP be easily wave soldered if placed on solder side of PCB, if so are there two different footprint formulas that take both wavesoldering and reflow into consideration. Thanks again. Jack
