Are there any good books on TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance) ? I am trying to set up a good maintenance structure/system in my company to maintain the SMT equipment. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Ditto for what most people have said. If you have good equipment/ good data / 3 or more fiducals..everything should be OK. Maybe dirt or something got bang'd. tweaking is evil,but if nothing else works??? dave

Any good advice on techniques to properly coat BGA devices on a PCB? Our preference is to spray the boards but I wonder if the coating will do much good. Thanks Jim

You must try cleaning the heads with a wet head cleaner. Dry tape cleaner just scratches your heads. Demagnetizer is good to use after a good cleaning.

We had encountered similar problem before. But the cause was found out to be the poor good plating, instead of contamination. The way we dealt with that was sending them to the supplier for rework. It may be the fastest and most relaibility way. Goo

Boothroyd and Dewhurst has DFA packages that are pretty good but are more for analyzing one design to an alternate design vs giving good times for your particular site, etc. You can find their site on the WEB.

I run 0201 on a 5 mils stencil with openting of 15X12 and did not have any issue. The major concern is the placement and CP643 did very good job. Type 3 solder pastes was used. Good luck.
