I just had these errors the other day. The problem was the Z axis drive belt was chewed up.

Also it might be a failed axis controller card in the VME; check for any red fail lights.

Is this a dual-beam GSM2? Check to make sure the machine configuration is correct for the machine, otherwise I would look at encoders for the axis and electrical connections.

Apparently the machine is now completing initialization but when attempting to zero axis' it has a time-out waiting to change modes. Machine status page shows an error reading "initialization failure for motion control board."
