Yes, no-clean is more of a challenge, particularly for halide-free no-clean. Requirement on probe testability will make it more difficult.

What is the acceptable Halide content of "Halide Free" Flux ??

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 25 14:32:37 EST 2002 | Kelvin

We always talk about the halide free fluxes and solder pastes. Is there anyone tell me what is the industrial acceptable level of halide content or contamination in flux residue? All comment are welcome !!! Kelvin

No, none of us can tell you what is the acceptable level of halide content or contamination in flux residue. The level of harmful residues on your product helps determine the reliability of your product. We know nothing of your product, its custome

Low Halide Wave soldering Flux

Electronics Forum | Wed May 25 17:29:58 EDT 2005 | Peter

We are evaluating a low halide Water soldering flux (Aim WS716). Has anyone had good/bad experience with it? Our operator has mentioned strong and irrating smell, even when standing a foot away from the conveyor entry/exit. The fluxer is embedded w

Does anyone have good/bad experiences with tacky fluxes for rework? Which vendor/formula should I start with? Which ones should I stay away from? Thanks! BWET

Mixing no-clean solder with activated

According to J-STD-004 "Requirements for Soldering Fluxes", fluxes are classified by their chemical composition, activity level and halide content. In this scheme, each flux type is identified by a 4-character designator, where: * First two character

If the OSP boards have gone through double reflow I assume that you use an aggressive (halide) flux for wave soldering. SAC 305 is known (search the archives) to dissolve copper faster than other lead-free alloys. This together with an aggressive flu

Cleaning method will depend on the type of flux > that you use in your soldering process. Yes it is isopropyl alcohol. We use "no-clean" halide free flux (Multicore X33-06i). We still cleaning and I beleive it is because we roto trim the leads aft

White residue inside the reflow oven

Hi SMTnetters, I have a white residue coating all over my reflow oven innards (almost looks like white fungus). How can I absolutely be certain that it’s flux and not anything else?are there any tests available for this? I am planning to check the ov

Hi, Here we take profile for every changeover. And we compare it with our profile. For the oven performance. We daily take a minimum of 3 profile for one oven. We have High mix low volume production. We are using ORH1 ( organic flux with halid cont
