3.3.5.1 HIC Placement states "The HIC may be placed anywhere in the MBB, but should not be placed under, on top or touching a desiccant pouch." How do you assure that the HIC doesn't touch the desiccant pouch? Do you secure the HIC to the reel or to

I have a question about Humidity Indicator Cards (HIC) in sealed PCB packages. If a PCB package is temporarily opened where the HIC card indicates 20% humidity exposure and then the PCB package is resealed with a new HIC card. How is the 20% moisture

Why to use 5% color spot in HIC if level 2a-5a > are considered bad when 10% is NOT blue ? 10% > will be NOT blue(or pink) only after 5% is pink. > Then why to keep 5% in HIC ? We change out the HIC and dessicant when the 5% turns pink to try to

Desicattor is used for storage and not the indicator or meter to check the humidity. I am not sure that the HIC will affect the solderability, if yes, when they pack together with the MSD then we also have solderability problem on component. Per J-

1)What is the MSD level for PCB? 2)I have some PCB's with HIC (humidity indicator card ) has turn to pink at 50%. Should I bake the PCB prior to assembly process. This fab is a complex board with various kind advance package assembled on the board.

Thanks Dave, The surface finish is ENIG.Is it ok not to bake even though the HIC has changed color? What is the shelf life for ENIG boards?

We'd reject the boards because: * Vacuum seal is punctured. * HIC is expired. One of the nice things about immersion coatings is that the fab can rework the coating. You cannot do that with other coatings. Finally, every HIC that we investigated c

A test that I would like to see is, expose parts for 24 hours 40%-60% RH, 25C for 24 hours. Then seal with a HIC and minimum desiccant that Jstd 33 requires. Five to seven days later open and see if HIC says good but parts have excess moisture. I t
