bubbles in solder pot

I'm sure this isn't the same situation, but we did have a selective solder machine with crazy dross and solder ball build up. Turns out the operator switched the low pressure nitrogen line used for solder level and the high pressure nitrogen line fo

In a previous lifetime, we had a selective solder machine where I would see solder splashes in the roof of it. I thought someone might have been putting the solder extremely high. But when it was melting there would be bubbles that burst. The manufac

Backward compatibility in LF solder pot

Dear all, As we know there is a high risk of reliability issue due to lead contamination during mixture of NLF component at LF wave soldering process. But we have the following feed back from one of our customer as follow: Concerning the risk of m

Solder reflow temperatures too high

Joe: I know this is not the correct forum to post chip "reworking" questions. Reply: Rework questions are as appropriate as the next topic here on SMTnet J: BGA will not reflow at any normal temperature level. I believe these chips may have been gen

Solder reflow temperatures too high

I think the main cause of this condition is #3 because both #1 and #2 never change from board to board, these are identical boards with identical BGA revisions. These BGA's (as stated before) are about 3 years old.. I don't believe they are lead free

Thanks Cmiller & PR, I am warmed to hear others are doing this sort of thing.......like all inovative ideas, you often stumble into them. As far as im aware the ERSA dual Pot is the only machine avaiable on the market that can do this sort of thing

forgot to write, what config of machine do you have......? single or dual Pot / Highspeed.....?

ERSA versa as alternative to wave soldering in low vol high mix

We have a dual pot machine. The fluxer is not the slowest part of the process on most boards. However, we looked at running boards that had many hundreds of TH leads that we currently run through the wave in order to try not to buy a wave for lead-fr

If you do not have a lot of TH joints there are some advantages. No boards "submarined" in solder pot on wave. You can solder the bottome side SMT parts rather than epoxy them when the parts are put down. This should reduce SMT defects and missing pa

ERSA versa as alternative to wave soldering in low vol high mix

We have 2 dual head Versa-flows in line. We use them mainly for doublesided reflow jobs that have connectors and axial parts. I have about 15 jobs currently running on them. The advantage of having 2, is some of our boards have through hole on 1 side
