Yes, I looked at the curve but it was high 250F max, but not higher than reflow oven temps..

Travis: I just checked. You're correct. It's a SMD-310, circa 1985 with a 12" wide mesh belt and a screamin' three zones of solder meltin' fury.

Please help!! Operators are currently using soldering irons set at approx 450 degrees C, this i realise is far to high, but can some one tell me the effect on the PCB and joint at this temp and the recommended temp for soldering.

adlsmt, Solder pot temp is set to 265C. About solder joint quality, you must take in consideration the PCB finish when testing different leed-free alloys. Our PCB's are ENIG.

Which solder did you use? What process? Just hand soldering? I think 750~800 temp. maybe so so so so high!!! Normally, we set irons at 350~400 degC temp. for our common hand soldering.
