While I do like the plastic answer, the military seems to be byassed for some reason. Thank you for the link. I am in a quandry now, I can't think of a good answer to form a procedure or even a reccomendation. Thanks. Andrea

Although DaveF's answer was probably more applicable and there is some really good info on Tin Whiskers it doesn�t really answer the question either from what I saw. I suspect this will become a much larger issue as we all are weaned off of lead!

With a BGA, how much solder paste are you putting on the pads? sometimes, bridging occurs when there is more solder paste than needed during reflow.....just a thought

Try using some of those new polyimide stencils. They are 8mils thick and can prevent shorting if it is due to solder mask problems or too much paste. http://www.solder.net/technical/tips.asp BWET
