We have an ICOM 6000 rose tester and everytime we run a program the machine stops and says "resistivity error". We have changed filters and calibrated the solution with no luck. Any ideas?

I am not familiar with the ICOM 6000, but we have an ICOM 5000. It could be possible that your Resistivty probe is bad, or possibly disconnected? We've also had different errors that were simply caused by not having enough solution in the tank. J

Could it be that the IPA you are using in the solvent/DI mix is not anhydrous, or in some other way not the correct purity? If it is not correct you will not be able to calibrate. Best rgds, Peter B.

This is a (Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE) tester. Per IPC standards, ROSE testers use a test solution comprised of 75% IPA (99% pure) and 25% DI water. -Mike Konrad Aqueous Technologies www.aqueoustech.com konrad@aqueoustech.com

How does no-clean flux residues on a PCB assembly impact the ROSE testing? Does no-clean flux residues on the PCBA dissolve in solution of ROSE tester and increase ionic contaminants level in terms of NaCl per surface area? Is ROSE tester solution (a

Hi SMTnet Members I'm looking for some help with my Westek ICOM500 Ionic tester. It has been sitting for a while. We want to get it up and running. I don't have any tools with this tester. Do you know what material I need to get this to work? Calibra

Richard, With respect to the Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE) test, the test solution is exceptionally aggressive. With the Zero-Ion for example, the test solutions resistivity is 150 M-Ohms. Additionally, because test solution is made up of

ROSE testing a post-reflow assembly which has been reflowed using no-clean flux may not yield information that is helpful. No-clean flux technology works by encapsulating the flux's activators and other chemical constitutes that would be harmful if l

since IPC-J-STD-001 RevH obsoleted the 1.56ug/cm2 UCL of ionic contamination tester in testing using ROSE test, how do you define the acceptable limit per PCB assembly? thanks
