Hi, I work for Nortel and here rework BGA'S we use DRS22 rework station and CRT 2000 X-ray inspection. The main problem is put again the BGA on the PCB because you need reboling the PCB and you could damage the soldermask. Talking about Air-vac is ve

AOI cycle times typically increase as defects/false calls found increases. If it's not that then possibly aging hardware or something has become corrupt in the software?

Hello to All, Is someone can refer me to an IPC standard where the maximum allowance of pcb stretch is mention? I've look into IPC-600, or 2222 or 2615 and I cannot find what I'm looking for. I will like to implement a pass/fail incoming inspection

Hi Phill Thank you, It´s a possibility because that model has many false calls and real defects, but only in one component. A while back we had a similar problem and we changed the component number to a new one, and the cycle time was better, but th

Manjunath, I prefer orthogonal systems. In my experience they are actually better at detecting coplanarity and HIP defects than multi camera systems. They are obviously limited, in that they can not inspect a component under another component, b

Alan, You're right, mass inspection after assembly won't work. The inspectors will miss 25% (or more) of the defects, and the boards will be reworked before SMT operators can properly define defects and their sources. The company I work for tends to

Hello sir, Limits in SPI can vary a lot, also depending on finishing of the pcb. For example 170% volume on an IC (assuming is fine pitch) can be okay for ENIG, but very bad if HASL. For are I would recommend that you use either 50-130, or 60-135 max

I have to agree with Michael's comments. We've been evaluating systems for a month or so. There's a pretty wide range depending on what you're looking for. I'd say the first thing needed is to define your expectations. Are you looking for solder in

For the ovens you run the profiler and you compare graphs. For the AOI you should run these golden boards(boards that you keep for AOI test - might have intentionally implemented defects) once in a while and make sure you are getting the same results

As always, our good colleague Evtimov is right about the AOI and oven. For the AOI you need to make a golden sample board(panel) and test if your machine can catch all defects that you simulated BEFORE the oven. Try to me as accurate to real defects
Our Company handle AOI (Auto Optical Inspection) and SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) Machines.
