Board change and solder not adhereing completely

From what you are saying................If I hear ya correctly - There is no "Proctective" on the Pads (OSP, HASL....) You will be hard pressed soldering to bare copper. This can not be right. My suggestion- go polyimide with electroptical connecti

New to using Ion Chromatography (IC)testing to understand cleanliness of PCB. I've been informed that one method to monitor is to use R/O/I. What is R/O/I?

Thanks for the reply. R/O/I is ROSE / Omegameter / Ionograph which is used as a baseline for Ion Chromatography.

Acceptance Criteria Ion Chromatography testing?

Electronics Forum | Tue May 22 19:28:31 EDT 2012 | Rick Thompson

Are there any established acceptance criteria for contaminants based on Ion Chromatography testing? I've found some references to certain levels for some contaminants but there doesn't seem to be any industry consensus. Any feedback or reference to l

edmaya33, you're correct about what J-STD-001E says, but recognize that the measure that you refer us to in not IC [Ion Chromatography]. It is modified ROSE [Resistivity of Solvent Extract] ... or whatever they call modified ROSE now-a-days

Hi there - unfortunately, there are no good cleanliness specs available mainly because clealiness requirements are case sensitive - you should talk to Terry Munson at 765-457-8095 - he can definitely give you advice on Ion Chromatography, SIR, ROSE t

measuring board/assy cleanliness

Does anyone know of a less expensive technique to monitor board cleanliness (chlorides in micrograms/in2) other than omega mater - ion chromatography is costing us an arm and a leg.

Hi davef, Will the ion chromatography be able to quantify then identify where and what the contaminant is? Is this a destructive type of testing or the PCB will remain intact right after the test? thanks for the inputs. dreamy

Hi, What's the acceptable criteria for Ion Chromatography Testing? I found a test lab but they said we have to define what is pass or failed. Can anyone guide me to the right document either IPC or MIL Std? thanks,
