Thanks for the reply. R/O/I is ROSE / Omegameter / Ionograph which is used as a baseline for Ion Chromatography.

edmaya33, you're correct about what J-STD-001E says, but recognize that the measure that you refer us to in not IC [Ion Chromatography]. It is modified ROSE [Resistivity of Solvent Extract] ... or whatever they call modified ROSE now-a-days

Does anyone know of a less expensive technique to monitor board cleanliness (chlorides in micrograms/in2) other than omega mater - ion chromatography is costing us an arm and a leg.

There is also a new cleanliness tester that looks at localized areas to provide a cleanliness reading and can extract a sample to use in ion chromatography testing. You can find out about it here: http://www.residues.com/C3.html
