AOI False call rate vs defect rate PPM

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 13 14:41:40 EDT 2024 | tommy_magyar

Hi David, In one of my previous jobs I worked as an AOI/AXI process engineer and we had a set target of 75% FPY. This means that 75% of the boards at IPC Class 3 standards would not have a single false call. This also means you would need to set y

Solder balls

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 11 22:00:19 EDT 2001 | davef

IPC-A-610 uses words to the effect that its a Class 2 process indicator, if either: * Entrapped or encapsulated solder balls that are within 0.13 mm [0.00512 in] of lands or connectors, OR * Entrapped or encapsulated solder balls exceed 0.13mm [0.00

how to achieve 500ppm?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 14 10:38:53 EDT 2005 | Stefan

500 rejected (?) per million placed components is a very good rate, considered that it would be better than 4 Sigma if you name it defects on the board. Or do I incorrectly convert ppm to dpm? * 3 Sigma 66,800 defects per one million opportuniti

Conformal Coating Discoloration

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 29 16:21:20 EDT 2011 | rjlasko

Greetings...I have a customer that has an assembly that is conformal coated with Humiseal 1A33. This assembly has some components (resistors and FET's) that heated up during operation and has discolored the conformal coating around their location.

AOI FALSE CALL PPMM

Defets per million opportunities: Number of defects per million inspection opportunities. It is best to ask your manufacturer how your machine calculates it. We use the defective parts to calculate the PPM. Kind regards

CERSOT-23 solder on top of package

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 25 13:40:04 EDT 2017 | davegoad

I have some CERSOT-23 transistor packages with castellated terminals. The 4th lead (drain castellation) is electrically connected to the top of the device by the castellation. The castellation goes up the ceramic body and contacts the metal package

SPC, PPM and DPMO

Electronics Forum | Fri May 23 15:31:46 EDT 2003 | daanterstegge

Hi ChrisX, DPMO = number of defects per million opportunities. PPM (parts per million) is exactly the same, although the terminology is less clear about what it means. SPC(statistical process control) is a methodology based on statistical technique

I wonder if the author meant defect per million ( DPM )report.

Not sure if you need help with the calculations or the application, so from the beginning: d=defective parts, p=number of parts, dpm=defects per million parts In a nutshell, d/p=dpm/1000000, so dpm=d/p*1000000 We use dpmo (defects per million op

Non wetting spots of flex PCB pads

I agree with the two other replies. Left alone, it is a defect. If it's just excess adhesive or coating, you can use IPC-7711/7721 'Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies' for guidance on removing. Section 2.3.1 explains how to te
