IPC J STD 004B Reliability tests

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 03 04:20:18 EST 2010 | grahamcooper22

Hi In Dec 2008 the IPC J STD 004 was updated to 004B, and I am wondering what the new test conditions are for testing flux Surface Insulation Resistance and Electro Migration Potential within the new spec. I am looking for the recommended test temp

SIR starting point...?

Is it safe to use the 100M ohm value found in Table 2 of J-STD-004 as a minimum for SIR with respect to flux specification acceptability? It (J4) appears to imply that that value provides some level of acceptability, but it just doesn't come right o

Test Resistance to ECM shall be 65C +- 2C @ 88.5% +- 3.5% All SIR Measurements shall not exceed 100 MOhm. I am not sure of voltage.

OSP and SIR

Splitting hairs, I expect SIR of all solderability protection, including OSP, to decrease after reflow. Whats more, I expect the SIR of all solderability protection to pretty much decrease over time. The comb pattern test specimens meet requirem

Need help with no-clean specs

Hello, I've been evaluating a bunch of wave solder fluxes and found one that is absolutely perfect. I'm so excited I can't wait to switch over. Unfortunately, I have to assure reliability, and the only test I have in-house is ionic contamination

Chrys, Please, refer firsatly to J-STD-001 Appendix D. Now, consider: SIR testing will help define the reliability of your finished assembly - it will not tell you how clean it is. Which do you or your customer prefer? Present SIR testing de

Hey Gyver: If you dont mind (which you dont have any choice about, because Im going to do it anyhow, cause its MY word processor), Im going to respond genericly, but still be directed to your question. Much of the following is paraphrased from
