Solder paste jetting vs time pressure dispensing

Electronics Forum | Sun Jun 18 19:59:28 EDT 2023 | smtusa

Seeing this graphic has me rethinking solder paste jetting as alternative to stencil printing. It seems it's only 2-3x faster 80k points per hour vs 28k. Wouldn't it be better to get 10 time pressure dispensers vs 1 solder jet?

What I would ask before actually answering your question is, what is the smallest footprint/pad which can be pressure dispensed/jet printed? Regards, Tom.

Jet printing can reach 80um, whereas contact dispensing is 0.3mm I believe. 0402 pads are 0.6x0.5mm.

And I can set deposits down to 34 um on our my500. I do not have the exact numbers in front of me on the my700 or Essemtec, but they will both be better than that.

The my700 can dispense 1 million dots per hour. It's not an exaggeration either. It literally never stops moving, and is dispensing without contacting the board. It uses the same type of mathematical calculations that a plane dropping a bomb uses in

Milara has a combined Stencil printer + jet Printing ??? Print and then jet print areas not printed or top up prints.

Hi, In your case definitely go with a pure time/pressure. If you want to make repeatable small dots later - only Archimedian screw. Another way is jet printing technology, which I assume is very expensive and far away from your case. Regards, Emil

If you are just prototyping, I would probably go with the Jet printer(I think the paste cartridges are very expensive). If you have some casual runs I would use a stencil printer. Actually I would like to have them both - tweak the paste amount with

Reduction of solder paste usage

Any one have experience of MyData paste jet printing? I don't ave chance to take a look at Apex but it can reduce the paste, no stencil required and paste volume control by programming.

I can buy approx 1000 stencils (cost includes next day delivery) for the price of a MY500. With a stencil, I can use WS paste and any other paste for that matter. The MY500 only jets certain paste from specific manufacturers. It is VERY VERY rare th
