Sorry, should have said the type of flux we use. It's Kester 186 RMA flux. Does that make a difference?

flux on PCB's after cleaning

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 26 16:31:02 EDT 2004 | Sue PH

We use Kester 186 flux and the STU people would sometimes find white residue after cleaning with Isopropyl at the solder station. We have Lenium (Petroferm)in our vapor degreasers, and now they use Lenium at their stations as well as final clean, an

Wave Soldering to ENIG Pads

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 04 19:25:03 EDT 2007 | sueph

We just got new boards in that have ENIG pads. In the past we had a problem with too much gold getting into the wave solder pot from large connectors getting tinned at the wave. Do we have to worry about too much gold getting into the pot with this

Switching from full-rosin/RMA flux to no-clean flux

Electronics Forum | Mon Mar 25 21:45:22 EDT 2024 | buckeye

I got an inquiry from one of our electronics labs with regards to their soldering processes. They use eutectic (63% Sn, 37% Pb) solder. For liquid flux they are currently using Kester 186, which is an old-school, full rosin (RMA and ROL1) flux that c

Wave solder question

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 19 14:00:55 EST 2002 | global

We have had some discussions about what causes parts to lift out of the holes when going over the wave on our flow solder machine. The machine being used is a Treiber (700 series). There are two bottom pre-heaters and one top pre-heater. We try to pr

I have tried the water soluble flux and the aqueous cleaners but I got the same results you did; horrible corrosion and a white flaky mess. I know exactly what you're talking about. We do a lot of hand soldering around here, and the magical solutio
