This is wave soldering process and design question since most folks associated with SMT are processing mixed assemblies. We have a 3-leaded sensor (radial) with such a tight pitch always bridges. Solutions unders disussion are pre-forming and addin

We assume the three leads are lined-up perpendicular to the wave. Without taking corrective action, we know this: * 50 thou pitch will bridge * DIP do not bridge As a corrective action that doesn't invovle a respin of the board, decrease the solderm

I have to agree with the fat green guy. And with Real Chunks too. You should also run a matte mask on your board. This will help in preventing shorts.

Hi BR, Are you screen printing adhesive to the bottom of the board? If so, have your stencil make put openings between the leads of the thru-hole part. SMT adhesive acts as a natural solder resist. So placing a small sliver between the pads works

Krikies my friend. A good wave ogre will be able to look at a wave and tweak in a way to minimize contact length (by slowing the conveyor speed), thus improving peelback, and lower it to the bare minimum without disrupting it's backward and forward

Hi all, Recently I had problem with printing the lead free solder paste, almost every board has bridging especially on the fine pitch locations. Anyway this problem never happens when we use leaded solder paste. So I would like to ask if there are a

Hi, It is wavesoldering defect, in single- sided copper board, using alcohol-based rosin flux. It is not a bridging between the protruding leads but a metallic (I think, it is solder) link, varies in dia./thickness, connected the basement of solde

Hello Having a problem with bridging on 20mil pitch qfp, only on the lead groups where squeegee goes over width of apertures. Using MPM sp-200 semi-auto, chem-etch stencil, 9-10mil width opening 100 durometer blade. Getting "tails" on deposits. Trie

Pad spacing is just one element to consider. Your pad spacing is determined by the pitch (center to center distance between the leads). There are several good resources to find the appropriate pitch per device. Search the archives here or refer to th

I do not have a lot of specs at the moment. I just wanted to get some opinions and some of you thinking. I will get some part specs and add to this post later. WE are running a pretty big PCB and ther are some connectors on the edge of the board. T
