Cal, There are several suppliers of cover tape materials that do not require heat to activate the adhesive. 3M and Advantek are likely the leaders. There are relatively few T&R machines that can handle both heat and non-heat applications - as Chri

We get our splice tape through splicetronic solutions, I recomend the double splice tape. steir also makes the double splice tape it works good for attaching strips together and also for putting leaders on the tape, if your feeders require. GOOD LUC

Go inform the owner of your company that you are spending hours of labor dealing with these parts instead of spending the extra 4 dollars it takes to buy an entire reel. When we deal with strips we make sure that an extra amount is ordered to apply

We have the same problems with cut/tape parts. But, we specialize in short-run prototypes, so I don't have much of a choice but to deal with it, and find a way to make it as easy as possible. We just demo'd a splice tool from Sierra Electronics (ww

Here are some answers to my questions after a good research. I also added more definitions that could help understand this esoteric language used in assembly, specially surrounding fluxes and their use. In blue italics are comments and extracts from

Hi Rob, I'm not sure I know what you mean. Are you referring to adding leaders to cut tapes in order to minimize component loss? Also, I've never heard of tapes snapping. Is this something you see regularly on a particular piece of equipment? Th

Splicing for us has been a rough go as we haven't really found a tool that works well/fast. We have a few different machines = different feeders. They all react different to a splicing "style". The best so far is a crimp tool that crimps a brass s

On our machines, the feeder release latch is designed such that the feeder goes offline (machine will not pick from it) before you can actually remove the feeder. This makes it virtually impossible to damage a nozzle or spindle. I'm not sure about

Hello, I need an advice regarding the next issue: in the case of Assembleon Topaz or Emerald SMT machines, is there necessary to teach first the block repeat coordinates and after that the PCB fiducial coordinates when you do not have these coordina

Hi Greg, We've used lots of machines over the years & seen lots of different tape related issues - the main one being snap off of the cover tape, usually due to too much glue, over entusiastic heat seal, or a feeder requiring maintainance. Also the
