Most of our LEDs are assembled as individuals connected by PCB traces. The ones that aren't are triple LEDs with three colors.

On one of our designs, we use LEDs Lite-On/LTST-S110TB (SMD). PCB footprint was designed according to manufacturer's recommendations. However, our vendor has problems with assembling these parts. Some parts are tilted, other have bad solder joints or

This style gave me grief as well. The problem is the way the part is manufactured leading to an unusual pad configuration. When the part is placed on the PCB there is no pad wrap under the part, the pad is 90 degrees to the board. The datasheet shows

We are assembling SMD-Leds (Chip LED cl-220yg-c-ts)on flex foil with Electrical conductive glue (Matthey A1401). When we investigated these foils we found cracks between the conductive adhesive and round the edge of the Chip-leds. This cracks cause f

Questions are: * Why aren't the defective LED blinking? * Do the defective LED blink when removed from the board and tested according to the functional test that you used prior to assembling the boards? * Do the defective LED blink after the solder i

Starting with the manufacturers layout is a good start. Tilted parts, bad solder joints, sounds like a wetting issue and the board or the parts. Insufficient solder sounds like the printing process needs some attention. We have used this part in th

We have been using Cree 3 color LED's (CLV6A-FKB) in many products for several years (pic attached). At the rate of 3 to 5% of the units assembled with this LED, the Red LED fails. After touch up with soldering iron it functions. This happens to the

I solder LEDs everyday from 0402 sizes on up. I work for an optical company so every product I make has LEDs. Some products have hundreds of LEDs per circuit. The problem is that clear materials are not filled materials and thus don't have the adv

Hi everybody, Please could anyone shed any light on the subject: resistance laser cutting with flux- calibration of LEDs during electronic assembly phase. Should special equipments be used? What is exactly the process? Thanks and Regards,

We have the very same problem.. In our next job our assemblers will be placing 2 million PTH LEDs. Fortunately we get all out LED's from the same manufacturer and hope they come in bags. If not we gotta cut them off the tape.. and well... that just m
