I am pretty sure, you are looking into the wrong spot. Your paste is too much, or your part has very inconsistent narrow leads(that includes wrong pad design as well.)

I have about 8 pair of the 590 in use in thru hole production. Had to replace 1 set of blades because of overpressure (50psimax) and a valve over past year. They work well for light to medium work. The replacement blades were around $20.00.
