That was my first tool I made for that purpose, a mini guillotine with marks showing quantities of 7, 11, etc, that they needed. Pull tape to mark, cut, repeat... After tens of thousands, it gets old. Also repetitive injuries became a factor.

No idea if something like this is available commercially, but it would be easy enough to make one for a few dollars using an arduino to control it. If you have a local MakerSpace ( or similar ), contact them and ask if they could come up with a solu

We have to make several different kits containing 5,7 or 17 resistors (axial leads). These resistors are supplied in ammo boxes or reel. We used to cut the tape by hand with scissors, but we need to cut 10000's of these per week. Has anyone ever seen

A few years ago i too was making up some kits, i was cutting resistors, diodes, chokes and only those who have experienced this situation will know how time consuming this simple task can be. I too looked around for some type of machine but couldn't f

We need more information about the situation. For instance: * Describe the green residue * Talk about the distribution of the problem, including a single lot or from various lots and over components and component types on the board * Tell us about t

I am trying to teach a class and the question came up about loss of metalization of the Earth pad on a chip filter. This pad is on the side of the component. I can not find a IPC call out for this type of side termination other than 3 or 5 sided 9.1.

Solder paste flux is main contributor, Lead termination chemical-oxide by products and PCB Plating-Chemicals. Reflow profile would have very limited if not no impact really unless is way off. Paste volume control and Stencil design plays a big part

What kind of oscillator are you placing (Manufacturer part #)? I do not believe that oscillators fall under the "chip component" category. Even if they did, most all SMT oscillators that I have come into contact with have 1 sided terminations on the
