Oven Dilemma: New Batch Type Vs. 2nd Hand Conveyor

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 02 20:32:19 EDT 2009 | isd_jwendell

I used a batch oven for a couple of years. They will do the job, just not as good as a conveyor oven. I then switched to a small conveyor oven with 3 heated zones (early Mistral 260). I liked how well it performed so much that I purchased a new one (

I'll second the recommendation for the GF-12 series, although I ended up with the Mistral-260 because of the exchange rate and the longer tunnel. Unfortunately the 260 does not open for easy access like the GF-12, although I haven't needed access yet

I used a TWS800 oven, like this one: http://www.smtnet.com/company/index.cfm?fuseaction=view_company&component=mart&item_search_id=70879 for a number of years. It worked OK, but I like the conveyor versions much better, like this one: http://www.te

I have dealt with Manncorp twice, and both times did not go well, so I do not recommend dealing with them. I use the Mistral 260 and am quite happy with it's performance. However, it does not open like other clam-shell style ovens. I haven't needed

I have used the 850's previous version (and other batch ovens). The current specified was AFTER the unit was at operating temperature, not what it took to warm up. If you have power restrictions, like I do, be careful with this model. Having used ba

This will depend on many factors: your reflow oven chamber size, your oven temperature controller, the speed of the conveyor, size and mass of your PCB, etc etc. In practice you should adjust the profile for each case if you want to set in the optim

I currently use an Essemtec CSM7100V (I've used it for about 5 years), which will place 0.5mm pitch and 0402s. I bought this after selling a Manncorp machine (used it for about 3 years). Service from Essemtec (manufacturer) is MUCH different than Man
