I think you just answered a questioned that I never thought to ask. Are bulk parts manufactured differently than standard tape and reel parts? That would explain why there is a bigger price difference in parts from Murata and not from others. As I

If passive componets are cheaper why aren't they more popular? Manufacturers like Murata and AVX claim availability and substantial cost savings but little interest seems to exist. Why? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dave, I was looking in the Murata data base and couldn't even find the part (Even though they are the ones making it)let alone the pad dims. This part looks like it could be fun anyway. Russ

actually, component sellers will have their own respective catalogue with all the available sizes used in their industrial business. Try your local "Rohm/Murata" sales-rep. for starters in the realm of chip components.

I have a problem with a Murata cap chip type resonator(ROHS). After the reflow process, the soldering joints flow to one side of the component. I did not have this problem with the leaded component. Did someone have a solution for this problem?

Ask the distributor (or coilcraft) what the termination material is & if they do alternative ones. These maybe from old stock. If you get no joy have a look at Epcos & Murata who both have wide ranges of surface mount inductors.

Hi Darren, First thing is to check the footprint against the manufacturers: http://search.murata.co.jp/Ceramy/image/img/A18X/C2EB3M.pdf as this may behave differently thermally to other 0805 devices due to the exceptional number of layers inside.

Most of Murata's parts were changed over by 1996, except high reliability/automotive as there wasn't enough data to prove or disprove this at the time.
