You should also remove all the pump parts and clean them, checking the bearings and seals. Clean completely the parts that allow the solder to flow back into the pot; ours have a spiral that fills with dross. Treat yourself to new nozzles. Tinning

Strange reaction with Selective Solder alloy

A while back, we had a yellow coating showing up on some solder joints at Selective Solder (LEAD alloy). I contacted the company for our machine and he looked into it. One change we had made not too long before is we switched from Superior 75 to Sup

Soldering lead free and leaded tin in the mix in one machine

Who is using two sorts of tin in one selective soldering machine with to solder pots? So then the soldering program selects the correct pot (tin). What are the risks? Adding wrong tin in the wrong pot. Mixing up the nozzles?

Bill, ENIAC, Thank you for your input. I'll do some research on the items you suggested and give it a try. The idea of having a steal nozzle that is tinned is defintely new to me, so I will check into that, as well as the brushes. Thank you guys.

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 01 07:18:29 EDT 2020 | proceng1

We are using Superior 515 flux to clean and tin selective solder nozzles. Yesterday the flux turned a bright yellow (like a highlighter) when heated after the flux being applied. This does not happen with our Lead Free solder, only the Lead alloy.

Selective Solder Nozzle Life

Maintenance, solder type, and tinning flux chemistries are going to have an impact on nozzle life. Doing regular maintenance and using a good quality nozzle you should expect your nozzles to last 6-8 weeks when running a single shift operation. Keep

I used method 'A' but I leave the wave on. I use a stainless steal brush like 7248T13 on McMaster-Carr.com. This way I can apply the acid and scrub the nozzle. Another important part is get a small brush to push down into the nozzle to make sure y
