What is the different between ODB++ compared to gerber files. Can PCB manufacturer use ODB++ to fabricate PCB. Why it is always hv to use gerber file, when ODB++ is more accurate file ? Pls help. Thank you.

Does anyone have a suggested software for exporting Gerber layers from ODB++ file packages? I have the Valor Free ODB viewer, and love all the information embedded in it. Unfortunately I am not able to work with any of the layers. Circuitcam imports

I've heard from my company's engineer that it'll be better to use Gerber format if there's some impedance control line . Because usually Gerber has code numbers in data and someone can easily refer to controlled line on the PCB and ODB++ doesn't have

Not now, Valor may under develop the module for its Trilogy 5000 with the stencil aperture based on the rules which you set. Also, check with IRI stencil (Alpha), they have a s/w and based on using ODB++ file and not Gerber. Rgds.

We are at the mercy of our Customers. Some give us ODB+ files, some just gerbers, and some we still get 'D' Gerbers from.
