I agree that Dage makes some excellent 3D (CAT) systems, but in our experience a high-resolution 2D system with tilt capability is usually better-suited for inspection of solder joints. Glenn Robertson Process Sciences

1st X-Ray looks pretty good. One instance of what looks like solder migration in the lower left quadrant. 2nd X-Ray shows a number of locations where the solder has migrated into the vias, shown by the small dark circles between the main spheres.

I would suggest that you go to the X-Ray world. I know for sure that Dage(Nordson Company) can make actual u-cut for the ball of the part. They can see and measure everything in 3D. I am sure if they can do it other X-ray machines can probably do it
